Pinter’s first full-length play, first performed in 1958, The Birthday Party is a key work of the Theatre of the Absurd.
The action takes place in a rundown seaside boarding house, where the mundane existence of the residents is disrupted when two mysterious strangers arrive and torment the sole boarder during a sinister birthday party.
